This is a Bearded Damascus Short axe. The shaft / handle is 22” long, is made from Baked Birdseye Maple with a brass lanyard hole and a red “K” mosiac pin. The head is Damascus from 15n20 and 1080 steels and is hand forged and is 57+ HRC file tested. The handle/ head wedge is made from Black Walnut. While this short axe is decorative in looks it is capable of full on axe function. The blade is sharp and is solidly attached to the shaft. The single hand balance point is just down from the “K” pin and the 2 handed grip is at the bottom of the grip at the flare. The sheath was custom made for this head.
